Hi friends - hope all good :)
For our last release of the year I'm very happy to say we have the wonderful Cat Tyson Hughes sharing her interpretation of quiet details - and what a beautiful album it is.
Out next Wednesday 13th December and a listening party Friday 15th December (around 19:00 UK, will confirm!).
Cat is a supremely talented artist, working across disciplines making music and art, while being an in-demand composer for theatrical commissions and more. Her stunning debut solo album, Gentle Encounters with Things (one of my fav album titles ever), was followed by the gorgeous Crossing Water on the excellent Past Inside the Present.
It was obvious from these releases she'd be a great fit on qd, and she really delivered.
Roses in the Casement Window is ethereal, vast and incredibly life-affirming - there's a powerful sense of positivity throughout the album - a warm and healing journey of deep listening sonics.
Cat's vocals mix with her nuanced instrumentation, waves of sound flow from one track to the next - each listen rewarding you with new discoveries - this is modern-day ambient music at it's very best.
This is an album based on childhood memories and their manifestation in Cat's life now - such an honour to share it with you.
So happy also to have three friends joining Cat to feature on the album - zakè (PITP, zakè drone and more), marine eyes (Cynthia Bernard - PITP, Stereoscenic and more) and Jim McDonald (Fire to the Stars) - all fantastic artists making amazing contributions. I also collaborated on one track too as Fields we Found.
So for now, check out Crossing Water here:
